The Gollatz Cotillion Dress Code

Strictly Enforced

Dress Code Overview:
Upon registering to the Gollatz Cotillion you agree to the Dress Code:
The Dress Code applies to the Cotillion student, parent, guests and siblings.
A family understands, upon registeration a family accepts the dress code policy. The Dress Code is for children, parents and guests attending any event. The Dress Code also applies to the Which Fork First? and Young and Polite dining events, including anyone observing. If a student is in violation of the dress code (example: tennis shoes instead of dress shoes) the child may not be allowed to participate in the Cotillion event for that evening.
Why are there so many rules to the Dress Code?
In past years, many young people have arrived with their own feelings about how they should look.We strive for the children to be comfortable but most of all safe.
A tall teetering heel on a young lady is a tragedy waiting to happen. A plunging neck line is extremely inappropriate for a young lady.
Any tennis shoe for boys are not a dress shoe. Dress shoes are required by the Gollatz Cotillion. Boys will arrive with their dress shirt tucked in. In an effort to have the best experience and for all to enjoy the Cotillion, we ask every parent for your cooperation.

Parents, Chaparones, Guests and Siblings Dress Code

Chaperones, parents and guests will be required to dress for the evening, no blue jeans, tennis shoes or sweats. Semi-formal attire is preferred but not required. We would like to take this opportunity to remind parents that children are impressionable and it is up to you to set the example.
Family Night

Family Night is a very special event for the Cotillion student,we ask there be an extra effort in dressing for this evening. Make this a night to remember for your child.

Young Ladies Dress Code

The Dress Code applies to all Cotillion events.

What is the attire for the girls?

The young ladies are required to wear a traditional short dress in modest appearance and length. Dress straps must be at least 1 inch thick or cover the brazier strap. A bolero (sweater) must be worn to cover the shoulders. Pant leggings under dresses are NOT ACCEPTABLE!

Do the girls wear stockings?

Many shoes are now a dressy sandal with open-toe. Open-toe shoes are awkward to wear with nylons however; it is in good taste and a part of the dressed-up appearance to wear a type of nylon, tights. etc. Leggings are NOT accepted at the Cotillion under a party dress.

Do the girls wear white gloves?

The Gollatz Cotillion does not require white gloves.

What about dress shoes for the young ladies?

The heel of the shoe should be as low as possible and ALWAYS must have a back strap. Open-toe shoes with a back strap are acceptable, but not recommended.

Young Gentlemen Dress Code

the Dress Code applies to all Cotillion events.

What is the attire for the boys?

The boys must wear a suit coat and necktie. A blue blazer and gray trousers( or any color) are more than acceptable along with a matching belt. Pants, such as: Dockers or Dickies trousers are acceptable. A young gentlemen is not required to wear a matching suit.

Is a necktie required?

Yes. A standard necktie is part of the young gentleman's attire and is required. During the Cotillion a young gentleman will learn how to tie a necktie.
Click Here to see the Tutorial "To Tie a Tie"

Do I have to keep my suit jacket on all night?

Part of a young gentleman's good grooming is to stay dressed. The jacket remains on with the necktie up towards the collar and the shirt tale is always tucked in.

What about dress shoes for the young gentlemen?

Dress or deck shoes suitable for dancing are acceptable and should match the suit.
